Local editions[edit]

Apart from the main Munich-centered edition which has in turn three different sub-editions (North, South and Würmtal), the Merkur has a number of different editions (so-called "Heimatzeitungen") for several Upper Bavarian cities and municipalities. Those editions feature a different name for the newspaper and all of them are more focused on local issues while they take the rest of the content from the main editorial staff.

Currently the following newspapers are published as local editions of the Merkur:

  • Dachauer Nachrichten
  • Ebersberger Zeitung
  • Erdinger Anzeiger / Dorfener Anzeiger
  • Freisinger Tagblatt
  • Fürstenfeldbrucker Tagblatt
  • Garmisch-Partenkirchener Tagblatt / Murnauer Tagblatt
  • Isar-Loisach Bote / Geretsrieder Merkur
  • Tölzer Kurier
  • Miesbacher Merkur / Holzkirchner Merkur / Tegernseer Zeitung
  • Starnberger Merkur
  • Weilheimer Tagblatt / Penzberger Merkur
  • Schongauer Nachrichten

The Oberbayerisches Volksblatt uses the main part of the Merkur as well for their newspaper but is otherwise a separate entity.
