I just meant to undo the ref tag as it was blanking the first few sentences of the article. I moved i into the infobox but that made it worse. The number itself is fine. TransUtopian 04:06, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Copyrights[edit]

Hello. I noticed you have claimed ownership of a few images you have uploaded, including some obvious screenshots and DVD covers. Rather than listing them all here, I'm just going to tag them for deletion, and explain that grabbing a screenshot does not establish ownership of copyright. If you think any of your images could qualify for fair use, you should add detailed rationales. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 15:04, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Bennyhill1.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bennyhill1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. — Rebelguys2 talk 17:32, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Commercial use of Image:BillCosby1.gif[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:BillCosby1.gif, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:BillCosby1.gif is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:BillCosby1.gif itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:44, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

A suggestion about your talk page[edit]

It isn't our custom to just blank our talk pages, but nobody likes a talk page that's unnecessarily long, either. Many Wikipedians create archives of their old discussions, so they can keep the talk page clear without making old discussions disappear completely. Check out my talk page for an example of what that looks like; you'll find instructions on how to do it at WP:ARCHIVE, or feel free to just steal code off of my talk page, if you like. I hope this helps. -FisherQueen (Talk) 19:18, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Copyright problems with Image:244.rush.geoffrey.101006.jpg[edit]

An image that you uploaded, Image:244.rush.geoffrey.101006.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Unspecified source for Image:244.rush.geoffrey.101006.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:244.rush.geoffrey.101006.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:46, 4 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Rebelguys2 talk 01:46, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright issues and removing deletion notices from images[edit]

Speedy Deletion[edit]

A tag has been placed on Episode 7: Gulf War 1991, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

Replaceable fair use Image:Vietnam175.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Vietnam175.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. Fair use rationale for Image:Pawlogo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Pawlogo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. General Motors Edit-Corporate Restructuring-Quell The Stock Market[edit]

Corporate Restructuring Section: Sentence: The Federal Reserve in a move to quell the stock market The Federal Reserve does not base its actions on the stock market. It did not increase interest rates to quell the stock market but to keep inflation risks contained. The interest rate increases may have quelled the stock market, but the Federal Reserve does not increase interest rates just to quell the stock market. If that were the case, then in 2007 the stock market should have been quelled from the Fed increasing rates from a low of 1% to its current 5.25%. The purpose of the Federal Reserve is rooted in the economy and monetary policy, not stock market gyrations.

General Motors 'Largest Car Manufacturer'[edit]

While the old version (which you restored it to) may be 'simple and sweet', it has the following problems:

  • It is incorrect. Rankings of size are determined by annual production volume, and is not determined until the end of the year, as stated in the referenced article.
  • No citation. Nowhere in the article referenced will you find any mention of sales revenue, only sales volume.
  • As a compromise to those who point out that GM has fallen behind this year, I feel it is fair to include sales volume for the current year, which can be updated as the year progresses. This is NPOV, whereas excluding one or the other could be seen as taking one side or the other.
  • Both pieces of data are relevant and important, and neither should be dismissed, especially when the one that IS being dismissed is the standard by which the title is determined.
  • General Motors still claims the title of largest automaker themselves, see GM Corporate Information. I have yet to see anything from Toyota themselves that claims they are 'largest', most likely because they also accept that full-year production is the standard by which those claims are made.
  • Even in the referenced article states:

The figures — and sales growth rates — indicate that Toyota could overtake GM as the No. 1 automaker

Please note that it says 'could overtake', not 'has overtaken'. It clearly states the sales volume from last year, which supports with hard data that GM is largest by annual production.

Should you choose to change it to 'largest by sales revenue', I think it would be reasonable to request a source both for that information and that such a title is an accepted standard by which to judge the size of an automaker.--Scottr76 02:54, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: General Motors/External Links/Soapbox[edit]

I believe the exteranl link I provided was to the General Motors discussion page, not the main article. As for soapbox, I try to stick to the facts in articles. It is a known fact that the United States Federal Reserve does not base its decisions on the stock market. There is nothing political about that statement or the changes I made to the article. The external link I posted on the General Motors Talk Page should provide you and other Wikipedia users the opportunity to learn more about the what the Federal Reserve bases interest rate increases on. I would hope that when a user edits an article they are aware of correct factual changes that have been done before reverting to a previously posted article. To do that would erase any beneficial changes that had been made since that posting. Surely Wikipedia's founders did not intend for teenage users to edit articles completely based on one user's incorrect edits, ignoring the correct contributions of many Wikipedia users to undo for the mistakes of one user edit. No soapbox about it. No politics. Just the facts.

Re: your edit summary. The problem we have is not that we don't have proper cites, we have at least 4 that meet the requirements of good secondary sources. And a primary source we have chosen not to use. The problem is they all conflict with each other. We have good cites for each of 30, 22 and now 19. And a primary source that says 30. We know he is 30, that is not in real dispute, but we are not allowed to make conclusions by Wiki policy. So what do we do? --NrDg 21:28, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Yep, that is it in a nutshell. He's 30, but it would require citing OR to decisively and permanently resolve the matter. On top of that, we have BLP rules to take into consideration, and the notion that zero information is preferable to false or misleading information. So the whole discussion is about how we can best deal with incorrect statements about his age without violating BLP or making our content misleading. G.I. Joe[edit]

Please be more careful when copy editing articles, such as the one at G.I. Joe. Destro is the correct character name, not Destroy. "Harkened" back means that something looks or goes back to some time in the past; hardened is not correct. "G.I. Joe's" is not correct, as the plural version of nouns in English do not use an apostrophe. And most of your other changes are unnecessary -- canceled is a variant of cancelled, and both are correct, for example. — Rebelguys2 talk 00:23, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Playboy Jazz Festival[edit]

That's not right. It's called the "Playboy Jazz Festival," it's held in LA, but it's not called the "Los Angeles Playboy Jazz Festival." It's an unnecessary disambiguation at best, and misleading at worst.

And as for the dates, it's not necessarily held on the 19th and 20th. The 2007 Jazz Festival was on the 16th and 17th, the 2006 festival was on the 17th and 18th, the 2005 festival was on the 11th and 12th, and so on. — Rebelguys2 talk 22:14, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Courage the Cowardly Dog[edit]

Please be more careful here. I don't know why you would take out the correct link to Arthur Anderson, and [[curse]]s is correct style when we link to a plural form of an article title.

Additionally, the show hasn't "returned" — it's simply being syndicated. The fourth season of the show ran through 2007, and I see no indication that its presence on Cartoon Network now is anything but syndication. — Rebelguys2 talk 22:18, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Your recent revert was determined to be unconstructive, restoring deliberate falsehoods, removing a needed template, and causing links to be directed to the wrong page, among other issues. Lucky number 49 22:25, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
