User:Speckler
Hi and welcome to Dr. Speckler's user page. On these pages I will experiment with a layout for entries on Indo-European root words and the words derived from them. These will eventually be added to the Wiktionary, where they belong, and not to the Wikipedia. I hope I can have the space here to get a systematic overview of the roots and the sources I use to find them, and not be blocked for adding unintelligible or useless entries.
A dictionary of Proto-Indo-European roots is needed, as there are few books that exist which includes all branches of Indo-European. The only comprehensive one which does, such as Julius Pokorny's Indogermanisches Etymologisches Wörterbuch, is outdated and hard to read. I have tried adding my tables to different wiki sites, as I understand that a Wikipedia user page may not be a suitable place to put them, but then I realised that it would be a waste of time if I should decide to move my entries to the Wiktionary as I would have to convert them to make them fit the Wiktionary. If anyone has a suggestion of where I could place my temporary and experimental entries (if not on my user pages), either within Wikipedia/Wiktionary or on a site that uses the same editing and the same tables as Wikipedia/Wiktionary, I would be glad to hear from you.
And no, I am not 'Dr' Speckler and no professor of Indo-European linguistics, so I don't do any research and I will always cite my sources.
