My name is Salim S Musa, a junior at NJIT studying full time in search of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering. I chose civil engineering as my major because I am a tactile learner I prefer hands on activity in class, laboratory exercises and I have always been amazed at how distinct structures such as bridges, dams, sky scrapers etc. were designed and built.

I have been a long time user and advocate of Wikipedia, so as my Technical Communication course for this Fall 2011 semester presented me with the opportunity of contributing to an article I was elated. Being an aspiring structural engineer, I sought to improve an article that was relevant to my career path. With some help from Davida the librarian I discovered a stub article on Structural systems, which I have submitted a general proposal for this topic selection to my Professor Dr. Lipuma.
