During the Diwali festival, a rising concern has been the effects of fireworks on air quality. Fireworks burn a range of chemical compounds such as copper, zinc, sodium, lead, magnesium, cadmium, oxides of sulfur and nitrogen. These release various particulates in the atmosphere and may have an impact on population health.
