Born in San Francisco, Ca. On November 15 1952 to a single mother, Beverly Joan DeLosa his father, Gabriel Joseph Moreno Jr. joined the United States Marine Corps and was shipped out and fought in Korea. Raised by his grandparents, Emil (Babe) and Lee Carosio along with his uncle, Woodrow Hoke due to Steven's mother experienced a stroke. They all grew up in the family apartment building at 770 Filbert Street in the North Beach district of San Francisco. They split their time spending weekend's and summer's in their country home in Larkspur, Ca. In North Beach Steven attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School. Steven was a member of Salesian Boy's Club where him montour Father Larry Burns guided him with his interest in boxing. The family moved to Larkspur California full time after his grandfather witnessed Steven running home being chased by ten plus Chinese gang members.
