Justin Richards (born 24th March 1969, Llanelli, South Wales) is a British musician, music producer and sound engineer.

CAREER[edit]

Whilst writing and playing in bands at an early age, Justin discovered multi-track recording. This led to parallel roles as a musician and demo-maker for a number of bands, playing a wide range of music from T-Bone Walker style blues bands through to African/Latin grooves.

After finishing his degree in 1991, he was offered his first job as house engineer at Big Fish Studio in Manchester. It was while recording demos for ZTT's newly signed Lee Griffiths that his work was heard by Trevor Horn which led to work at SARM Hookend and West Studios, and also the Stone Roses' Neve-equipped RoseGarden Studio. From here, Justin went on to work at Island Records' Fallout Shelter, Gracielands, Revolution Studios and many more.

The first commercial releases that saw the use of his keyboard and programming skills were Bangra re-mix albums that he co-produced at Startrack Studio Manchester. He then moved on to playing guitar, keyboards and percussion on a number of records issued on various labels.

Justin has also engineered or produced work for The Who, Robbie Williams, Puressence, Jonny Marr, Snow Patrol, Thea Gilmore, Marion, Guy Chambers, Manni (Primal Scream), Simon Townshend, Bruce Foxton, Barclay James Harvest, Jamie Catto (Faithless), Jon Christos, Jane Weaver, Lee Griffiths, Kyla Brox, Angie Palmer, Lion Rock, Bernard Sumner's "Bad Lieutenant" and Peter Hook's "Freebass" .

In 2007 he teamed up with PP-Music, a production company that provides film and TV companies with cutting edge trailer music and sound design work. This required a broad range of styles from cinematic orchestral writing to high-energy rock music for sports programs. Alongside this he completed his first solo album "10 Rooms" under the artist name Just. It was released at the end of 2009, and is an album of impressionist soundscapes inspired by significant places in his life and shows a more personal, performance based style to his writing.
