Antarcturus Sinensis is a member of the isopod order in the animal kingdom. It's a recently discovered species native to Antarctica. The discovery was made by a British expidition program called the British Antarctic Survey'Bold Italic texttext'.
This crustacian clings to coral on the ocean floor and extends it's long frontal appendages to capture planktonic prey floating in the water.Krill, shrimp, and organisms like antarcturus play a vital role in the foodweb for Antarctica. They are a main food source for seals, penguins, whales,and fish native to the region. The water temparature around Antarctica is about 33 degrees F, salt water can drop to 28 before it freezes. The water below and surrounding Antarctica can be looked at as one of the last unexplored regions in the world.
