Early life[edit]
Suraj Bangsajayh born on 03 Aug 1965 and had his education at St. Benedict's College, Colombo 13. At school he played basket Ball & Hockey to the Collage and He was a member of Senior Cadet Platoon, [1]Suraj is married and has one Son & a daughter.
Sri Lanka Army[edit]
Suraj joined Sri Lanka Army on 1985 and he was the former Director Recruiting at Army Head Quarters in Sri Lanka Army. the Deputy General Officer Commanding, 57 Division during the final phase of Sri Lankan civil war. He was a highly decorated Infantry officer, being awarded the Rana Wickrama Padakkama, Ranasura padakkama, Uttama Seva Padakkama .He Commandant two Infantry Battalions and Two infantry Brigades. He was Commandant at Army Training School and Commandant non commissioned officers and commandant at combat training school and infantry training centre in the army.
During the final human tarion operation 2007 - 2009 he was the deputy genaral officer commanding of 58 division capturing several former LTTE strongholds including the Mannar rice Bowl, Vedithalathivu, Nachchikuda, Mulangavil, Devils Point, Pooneryn, Kilinochchi, Paranthan, Elephant Pass, Dharmapuram, Vishvamadu, Suvandipuram, Thevipuram Puthukudirippu, Puthumathalan, Wellamullu vaikkal and the last inch of enemy held Karayamulli vaikkal in the mangroves of Nanthikandal lagoon in the Mullaithivu district. After the end of the war he was appointed as Director recruiting of the Sri Lanka Army and promoted to the rank of Brigadier.
In 2013, he took up position as Defense Adviser (Minister Counselor Defense) at Sri lanka Embassy in Bejing China
