Me with my usual inexpressive smile

I'm Tony Alcalá. I was born in 1977 in Mexico City. I graduated in English Literature at the UNAM and did a Master's program in Gothic Literature at the University of Stirling. I am currently a full time professor, coordinator and researcher at the Global Studies Department in Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico City Monterrey_Institute_of_Technology_and_Higher_Education,_Mexico_City.

I am also founder and permanent coordinator of the International Gothic Congress http://gothiccongress.blogspot.mx/ held every 2nd year at FFyL, UNAM http://www.filos.unam.mx/. This event has worked as a forum for scholars and students from different countries who are interested in Gothic Literature and Art to share knowledge and ideas that have contributed to the academic work done in the Gothic in Latin America and the rest of the world.

My main research area is Gothic Literature on which I have also published and from which I add contents into my classes as well.
