The Last Queen (Arabic: الأخيرة), is a historical fiction film^[1] co-directed by Adila Bendimerad and Damien Ounouri. Its financing is essentially Algerian^[2].

Synopsis[edit]

In Algiers in 1516, King Salim Toumi allies himself with the corsair Barbarossa to liberate the city from the Spaniards. After the victory, Salim is assassinated and Arudj Barbarossa takes power over the kingdom. One woman stands up to him: Queen Zaphira.
