Tyler Richards is an ordained Episcopal Priest currently serving in the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama Tyler is 32 years old and was born November 13, 1984 to Tim and Beverly Richards of Section Alabama. Tyler attended Elementary School at Macedonia Elementary located in the Rural Alabama town of Macedonia, which is located in Jackson County Alabama. Tyler transfered to nearby Section high School where he graduated eighth in his class. Tyler went on to nearby Northeast Alabama Community College where he studied nursing while attending on a Dramatic Arts Scholarship. He currently resides in Birmingham, Alabama. Tyler enjoys many different interests including his "mild obsession" with Egyptology, more specificly the Religious and Artistic Aspects of the Religion, writing, reading, Film and Television.

Early Life

Growing up in rural Alabama, Tyler enjoyed a relatively sheltered life. His family was and still is Baptist in belief and he grew up attending various Baptist churches in the community. Tyler started school with a group of 22 other students and his class remained much the same until he graduated High School in 2003 from Section High School in Section, Alabama. He has an older Brother, Rev. Timothy Zachariah Richards, who is a southern Baptist Minister at Union Grove Baptist Church in Crossville, Alabama. His mother is a retired school teacher and his father is a blue collar worker.

College Life

Tyler began his undergraduate degree at Northeast Alabama Community College in Rainsville, Alabama in August of 2003. He won a Dramatic Arts scholarship from Northeast and continued to perform until his move to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and The University of Alabama in the summer of 2005. While is official course of study at Northeast was "nursing", Tyler enjoyed other subjects more and focused more on artistic subjects like English Literature.

In the fall of 2005 Tyler Transferred to The University of Alabama to continue his studies in Nursing, however he would eventually change his major to English and minor in Comparative World Literature. Tyler graduated from The University of Alabama in August of 2013 after a protracted academic career stemming from personal tragedy and decisions to change majors twice during his studies at The University.

Life in Ministry

In September of 2013 Tyler began his studies towards a Masters of Divinity degree at The School of Theology at The University of The South in Sewanee, TN. While at the school he completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at NCH in Naples, Florida, and an internship at Church of the Nativity in Lewiston Idaho, an Episcopal Church in the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane. He also won a coveted Griffin Fellowship while at the school that funded study in The Holy Land at St. George's College. He graduated from The School of Theology May of 2016 and was ordained to the transitional diaconate shortly thereafter. He was ordained to the Priesthood in December of the same year and served as Priest in Charge at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Montevallo, Alabama from June 1, 2016 until December 24, 2017. He left that position after being elected Rector of Transfiguration Episcopal Church in Indian River, Michigan.
