Berkeley Ventures is a startup accelerator helping serious entrepreneurs realize their innovations.

Mission[edit]

Berkeley Ventures was founded in 2009 by Chris Doner with the mission to create new jobs and improve the economy by helping passionate entrepreneurs and small businesses develop their ideas into a tangable product. The company specializes in assisting very early stage companies or first time entrepreneurs develop and expand their business through tailored services designed to meet the specific needs of each startup.

Berkeley Ventures offers an array of discounted services to help startups reach their goals, whether that be product development, increased revenue, or further fund-raising. Unlike traditional Venture Capital firms, which offer large amounts of capital in return for a large equity stake, Berkeley Ventures helps startups by providing a low-cost, less capital alternative while still providing high quality services and collaborative enviornment where startup businesses can work together to develop their ideas. The organization offers appropriately sized facilities at low costs, seed funding up to $10,000, and an experienced team of advisors to support its startup partners. Additionally, Berkeley Ventures facilitates contact between their portfolio companies and interested angel investors and venture capital firms to provide any necessary additional funding.

  • WAPIS - a clean-tech startup developing a technology that creates a new level of cost efficiency for the production of clean energy, making clean energy the lowest cost energy source available
  • Virtual Lab - solves the problem of providing widespread access to expensive R&D equipment by offering a secured low cost internet-based testing solution to engineers
