Most wikipedia writers are not paid. They are just people like you and me. Most of the overall work (not necessarily the intensity of the work) is done by common people, without which there would be no wikipedia.

The Benefits of Open Source

We should have useful information that is free on line. This is a resource that is lacking in quite a lot of fields. There have been quite a lot of good websites in the past few years that have become defunct, or have dropped features and functionality.
I have thought of some articles and drafted others, always begging the question - Should it be published?
Wikipedia has achieved in being able to cover many fields, including technology which was in fact a social tabu to talk tech 40 years ago. Now you see things have changed. People can work with the suboptimal firmware in their smart phones, which includes crippling, surveilance, bugs and bloatwear, a lot of people have worked out how to use them, and can do things like now use public transport.
