[edit]Roger Goodwyn (born 1958), is an organist, and composer, born in Britain.
Professional career
[edit]Between 1984 and 1999, Roger GOODWYN was an officer in the UK Royal Air Force working in all aspects of civil and military air traffic management.
Trained as an air traffic controller in both the terminal and en-route environments, he has also had significant experience in airspace and procedure design, flight data processing, the development and delivery of air traffic control training and ATCO competency assessment.
Since 1999, Roger has been working for the EUROCONTROL Institute for Air Navigation Services in Luxembourg specialising in the development and delivery of training in the areas of Airspace Management and the future ATM Network
Musical career
[edit]Originally from Great Britain, Roger Goodwyn is the resident organist at the Holy Trinity Church of Walferdange in Luxembourg.
He studied at Epsom College under David Devil, and then at the Durham University. In parallel with this, he studied the organ with Alan Thurlow, resident organist at Chichester Cathedral, and with David Hill, professor of musique at St John's College, Cambridge, and director of The Bach Choir.
Additionally, Roger Goodwyn studied under Jean Langlais, composer and previously resident organist at the Basilica of St. Clotilde, Paris. He became lecturer in the organ at Hatfield College at the University of Durham.
While he was resident organist at Church of St. Peter, St. Albans, Roger Goodwyn gave many concerts and recitals around Britain and France.
His repertoire extends from Renaissance music to Contemporary, and to music from Central European and Nordic countries. His preferences are for Romantic music and French symphonic music.
He has given concerts and recitals in Britain (Cambridge, York, Carlisle, Newcastle), in France (Notre Dame de Paris, Roquevaire, Nîmes, Alès, Bischheim, Strasbourg) and in Luxembourg. He also takes part in the Académies d'Eté, organised each year by the association Orgues en Cévennes where he gives courses and concerts.

[edit]Depuis qu'il vit au Grand-Duché de Luxembourg, Roger Goodwyn est organiste titulaire à l'église paroissiale de la Sainte Trinité à Walferdange. Il est concertiste, donnant des récitals en Angleterre (Cambridge, York, Carlisle, Newcastle), en France (Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, Roquevaire, Nîmes, Alès, Bischheim, Strasbourg) et au Luxembourg. Il est également associé aux Académies d'Eté organisées chaque année par l'association Orgues en Cévennes où il donne des cours et des concerts.
Roger Goodwyn fait ses études au Collège d'Epsom auprès de David Devil, des études musicales sanctionées par les diplômes pour piano, orgue et musicologie. Parallèlement à ses études supérieures à l'Université de Durham, il étude l'orgue avec Alan Thurlow, organiste titulaire à la Cathédrale de Chichester, et David Hill, professeur de musique à St John's College (Cambridge) et directeur du Bach Choir.
Complémentairement, Roger Goodwyn s'inscrit à la classe de Jean Langlais, compositeur et ancien titulaire des grandes orgues à la Basilique Sainte-Clotilde (Paris), et devient chargé de cours pour orgues au Hatfield College à l'Université de Durham. Il termine ses études universitaires avec une maîtrise en sciences de la musique, acoustique, paléographie, composition, orchestration et improvisation, et premier prix d'orgue.
En tant qu'organiste titulaire des grands orgues de l'église paroissiale de St. Peter's à St. Albans (Angleterre), Roger Goodwyn donne de nombreux concerts et récitals en Grande-Bretagne et en France. Son répertoire s'étend de la musique de la Renaissance à la musique contemporaine, surtout musique des pays nordiques et de l'Europe centrale.
