India and Pakistan politicians are presumed notable if they are appointed or elected to the posts that deals with the federal, state/provincial politics or administration. For instance, if a politician has served in the following whether by election or directly appointed by the government, they are presumed notable.

  • Local politicians are generally presumed non-notable even article(s) are supported by independent reliable sources. If a local politician meets general notability criteria but has not served to the above mentioned position(s), such topics are generally non-notable. Please see WP:NPOL for detail detailed information.
  • In some cases, politicians with no representation to the federal, state/provincial offices, but their participation has received in-depth coverage in multiple reliance sources; are presumed notable. However, this doesn't override or otherwise bypass WP:BIO1E and WP:BLP1E. Please consider visiting WP:BIO page as it contains a plenty of detailed information.
  • The union Leaders of the Opposition are notable even if they have not previously served as member of parliament (MP), assembly (MLA) or council (MLC). The opposition party may elect or otherwise select any member of the party to the LoP post.
  • If the presidential or prime minister candidates contest election, they are presumed notable even if they have not been previously involved in politics or have lost such elections. Presidential or PM candidates who are very new to politics or have never participated in any presidential or parliamentary elections or otherwise local elections before, such candidates are sometimes referred to as "newcomers", and are presumed notable.
  • District Development Council members and its chairpersons are generally presumed non-notable regardless of they pass WP:GEN (please see WP:NOT). DDC members fail to satisfy WP:NPOL. DDC is a non-notable party functionary and hence all DDC members are designed to work at block-level (see Community Development Block). However, if a person has received multiple independent coverage in RS, a consensus is needed for its retention of deletion.
