THIS IS AN EXPERIMENTAL RFA FORMAT I AM WORKING ON. OUT OF COURTESY, PLEASE DO NOT EDIT[edit]

How it works[edit]

NOTE: Everything above the L3 header below is not normally in the RfA.

The RfA is divided up into 5 phases - only 3 are used when the RfA is public. The phases are as follows (with a small description):

  1. Nomination phase, where people nominate etc
  2. Q&A Phase, where people ask questions
  3. Discussion phase, where people discuss pros/cons of the candidate
  4. Vote phase, where people vote
  5. Closing phase, where crats close and/or where crat chats are held.

Each phase lasts the following amount of time:

  1. As long as necessary, its not public during that time
  2. 4 days, however may be extended if candidate does not answer any, or if a crat decides
  3. 4 days, may be extended by a crat if major issues need more discussion
  4. 4 days, may be extended if not many votes
  5. As long as necessary, however it is not public. Crat chats are not usually that long.

Anonymous users may only contribute to the 3rd stage.

Any comments/critism is welcome on the talkk page. Enjoy! Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 09:04, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

TheFearow[edit]

(0/0/0); Scheduled to end 08:20, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Phase 1[edit]

Phase 1 is the Nomination phase. During this phase, users may co-nom or place their nomination for this user. This phase is complete as soon as the user accepts. The RfA should not be transcluded until this phase is complete. All nominators must have an account.

Nomination by Example:

I have never seen TheFearow, however I think they would make a great admin. Insert long speech here. --Example (Talk) 08:51, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Co-Nomination by Jimbo Wales:

TheFearow is great! I'm sure everyone who actually knows who he is will agree with me. --Jimbo Wales (Talk) 08:51, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Phase 2[edit]

Phase 2 is the Q&A phase. During this phase, users may ask questions of the user, and the user may answer. All questions are optional. Responses may be changed, however please strikeout the old response, and add a new one underneath, so people can still comment. Please do not reply to answers, if you need to clarify, ask in another question. Anonymous users may not ask questions.
  1. Q: What admin work do you intend to take part in?
A: Lots! Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot)
  1. Q: What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
A: Many things. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot)
  1. Q: Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
    A: Unanswered
  1. Q: (Jimbo Wales) Do you believe adminship is no big deal?
A: Yes, adminship is nothing but a few buttons. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot)

Phase 3[edit]

Phase 3 is the Discussion phase. During this phase, users discuss the user, including pros and cons etc. This allows for all points to be made before the vote, stopping large in-vote discussioins, as well as allowing users to persuade others to reconsider their positions on the user. This is the only phase anonymous users are allowed to comment on.

Pros[edit]
  1. Short version - Long version Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot)
  2. Lots of maintenance work - This user participates heavily in projects such as DEP, as well as wikifying, and NP/RC/V patrol. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot)
  3. Runs a bot - This user runs a bot. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot)
  4. Admin on mediawiki.org - This user is an admin on another wikimedia wiki. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot)
Cons[edit]
  1. Short version - Long version Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot)
  2. Lack of article contributions - This user has not got any articles up to GA status, and they do not regularly edit articles. Even though this has nothing to do with adminship or RfA, it is a bad thing. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot)
Notes[edit]
  1. General discussion

Phase 4[edit]

Phase 4 is the Voting phase. During this phase, users vote on the user, based on things discussed in P3 and P2 above. Just having support is not enough - bureaucrats will exercise discretion in cases ranging between 70-80%. This is NOT a pure vote. Anonymous users may not vote.
Please sign using FIVE tildes (~~~~~) rather than 4. This hides your name etc, and stops votes based on what people they know think.
Votes based on criteria not discussed in P3 or P2 (unless it is a major factor) will be removed
Support[edit]
  1. - Per pro 2, 3, and 4. Con 2 is slightly worrying, but not relevant. 08:51, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Oppose[edit]
  1. - Per con 2. Very worrying, maintenance is useless without anything to clean up. 08:51, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Neutral[edit]
  1. - Per con 2, and pro 4. I would not like this user as an adminstrator, however they are trustworthy as shown by being an admin on mw. 08:51, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Phase 5[edit]

Phase 5 is the Closing phase. During this phase, users are not allowed to vote or comment, while a bureaucrat is deciding the outcome. Once this is complete, a bureaucrat will comment below, closing the RfA. It may then be archived
