Railroad stuff I've done

I have lived in many of Nevada's towns, including Currie, Ely, the Cobre area, and Pahrump. Yes I do know that Pahrump was not located along the Nevada Northern, it's just where I decided to retire

Railroad tales

One day, I was called to repair a train that had broken down just outside of Currie. I hopped into my truck and drove to the spot where the train had broken down (there were no roads, by the way; I had to drive on the terrain, which in itself was fun). Once I got there I climbed out of my truck and asked what the problem was. They said that they did not know what the problem was, all they knew was the train was acting funny. I inspected the boiler and quickly found out that several of the rivets were missing. I went to my truck to grab my toolbox, but I realized my toolbox was back at my house in Ely, almost an hour and a half away. I had to run back home, grab my toolbox, and when I opened my toolbox, I saw that I didn't have the right sized rivets for the locomotive. So then I had to purchase the right sized rivets and head an hour and a half south to the train. Once I arrived, I apologized for the delay, and I got to work fixing up the locomotive. Once I had finished, I started my truck and began to drive to Currie, but about five minutes after I had started my vehicle, it stopped. I checked the gas gauge; it was on empty. So, I had to push my truck about four miles to Currie, where I filled up and stayed the night at the depot. The next day, I drove to Ely, and just as I was arriving in town, my back left tire went flat. That was back in 1978.

Places I've been

From the year of my birth, which was 1950, to 1967, I had never been out of the state of Nevada. However, we took a trip to California in 1967, and it was a very nice trip. Below is a table showing where I've been, what year I went there, and what I did:

Cobre	Nevada	1978	I stayed in the Cobre area for two weeks.
Currie	Nevada	1979	I lived in Currie from 1979 to 1983, when I was discharged from the NN.
Pahrump	Nevada	1983	I have lived in Pahrump from 1983 to the present day.
Provo	Utah	1985	I visited with family in Provo for a few days.
Promontory Summit	Utah	1990	I visited Promontory on May 10, 1990, to watch the reenactment of the driving of the last spike. I still occasionally make trips there on May 10. In addition, I also visited the sites of Kelton, Terrace, and Lucin.
Honolulu	Hawaii	1990	I took my family to Honolulu for vacation. It was very enjoyable.
Boston	Massachusetts	1992	I went East just to see what it was like.
Provo	Utah	1992	After I got back from Boston, I visited my family in Provo that I hadn't seen in seven years.
Mexico City	Mexico	1997	Since I had never been out of the country, I traveled to Mexico City for a week.
