User:The Disco King

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi. I'm The Disco King. And this is my page. Woot!

I'm a student at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. So far, I have written a grand total of five articles, the first of which was Corporate rock, because I went to look it up and it wasn't there! (I have a secret love for Journey - especially Don't Stop Believin'!) I had an article (James Foster) on Did you know? (as of Feb. 24), which I think is pretty sweet, especially since it's only the second article I've written...:) So far, I've also written articles from scratch on:

which represents one-third of the British team that won gold in hockey at the 1936 Winter Olympics. A strange topic to be interested in. I have trouble justifying it to myself. "I should be writing my essay...but I'll just work on this Carl Erhardt article a bit longer..." As if anybody will really care...

Recently, I've been fairly involved on the Featured article candidates page. I like reading the best articles on this site, which I happen to think is about the most important one on the Internet...

In the future, I'd like to work a few articles up to FA status myself. Some potential candidates include Samora Machel, Afro-Marxism, Thomas Sankara, Kwame Nkrumah, Pan-Africanism, FRELIMO, and Eduardo Mondlane.

I've never received any questions about my name, but just in case anybody is wondering: It's in honour of a rather obscure David Bowie song on his sub-par Reality album called "Bring Me the Disco King". For me, it's the highlight of the album, and one of my all-time favourites, and the phrase itself amuses me. I'm not a big fan of disco myself (although I do love the Studio 54 soundtrack to death...).

A Barnstar!
The Oddball Barnstar

You are awarded this for being very, very odd

(N.B. - This barnstar is UNOFFICIAL, and was awarded by a vandal.)

This barnstar was given to me by User:Awarder, and I suppose that under any conventional way of thinking it's vandalism, especially given his/her user history. However, I'm pretty proud of it. I've always wanted a barnstar, and now I have one, with no effort!

Ciao!
