The North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NA-YGN) is a non-profit organization for young people in the nuclear industry. Most local chapters are organized by nuclear power companies, with a small number based at universities. In many cases, it serves as an informal new college graduate group at companies like Westinghouse, who are beefing up hiring to keep up with anticipated new plant orders.

The organization's newsletter is Go Nuke. Members are 35 and under by requirement, but older professionals can be "honary" members. Some stated objectives are:

Following the successful creation of the Young Generation Network groups within the European member Societies, the British Nuclear Energy Society has also established a similar organisation, aimed at encouraging younger members to form a network around the industry.

Aims To establish a national Young Generation Network that allows the knowledge and awareness of the industry to be exchanged between older and younger generations. It will encourage young people within the nuclear industry to stay within the field and provide a resource for the future. It will be a vehicle for all members, across the full spectrum of careers, to create support networks for personal developments along with encouraging continuous learning about the wider nuclear industry.

Objectives The UK's objectives are based on those established by the European Nuclear Societies, which are to:

The direct link to the ENS YGNs means there is an opportunity to encourage cross-European exchanges of knowledge and experiences. A number of groups are well established within Europe and we are looking to learn from their experiences on how to make the initiative more successful.
