The "Duty To God Award" is an honor presented to Young Men in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who complete certain requirements from the Duty to God booklet. The Duty to God program for young men is roughly equivalent to the Personal Progress program for young women in the LDS Church.

Overview[edit]

The current Duty to God program was announced in 2010 by President Henry B. Eyring, who emphasized that the booklet had been strengthened and focused. The Church has stated that the goal of the program is to help Young Men develop their personal testimony and their relationship with God, learn more about priesthood duties, and live the standards from the For The Strength of Youth pamphlet. Each young man receives a booklet which list the requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to receive the award. In addition, a website is provided to track progress.

Organization[edit]

The book is organized into three sections that correspond with the three offices of the Aaronic Priesthood - Deacon, Teacher, and Priest. Each of these sections is then divided into three subsections: Spiritual Strength, Priesthood Duties, and a project based on For The Strength of Youth. The priest section also contain an additional subsection, which is designed to help them prepare to receive the Melchezidek Priesthood and serve a mission. The subsections are divided into three activities, all of which follow the same pattern. First, learning about the principle presented, second, making a plan to live the principle, and finally sharing what you've learned.
