The Somali People's Party (SPP) (Somali: Xisbiga Dadka Soomaaliyeed), abbreviated SPP in English and XDS in the Somali language, is a social conservative political party in Somalia. It has developed from the tradition of Islamism, but has officially abandoned this ideology in favour of "conservative democracy". Daljir party seems to be one of the largest Somali political party and some leading members of the party were former members of the government of Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.
Well known members of the party include the former Minister of Interior Abdilqadir Ali Omar, Abdikarim Hussein Jama former Minister of Information and current rector of City University Mogadishu.
The Chairman of the party Hassan Moalim, served as State minister for the Presidency in the administration of Sharif Sheikh Ahmed. The party's General Secretary Ahmed Moalim Fiqi is a former Somali ambassador to Sudan and served as the Director of Somalia's National Intelligence and Security Agency.[1][2]
