Nice to e-meet you is a vernacular term used most commonly over electronic mail, as a gesture of introduction that is not held in person. The term is considered formal and is most often used in business settings. The term emerged in the late 1990s, as internet infrastructure grew, and corporations launched their own e-mail servers. While its origins are unclear, several people have claimed to invent it, with most pundits recognizing Thomas H. Wolfe, an executive in the advertising technology space, as the inventor.
