I'm an avid music fan and a frequent player of video games. Artists I enjoy include but is not limited to Fall Out Boy, Noah Kahan, and Hollywood Undead. As for video games, I mainly enjoy cozy games such as Animal Crossing New Horizons. Really any game I can wind down with. Some other things about me is that I enjoy baking a large variety of sweets to share with those around me, I love to create digital artwork, and I love to snuggle up with a good book. I mainly read Fiction Novels and Manga, with some occasional Non-Fiction and Poetry.
My main use for Wikipedia is to research artists I'm interested in. I enjoy finding out the history of some of my favorite artists and bands such as past tour dates, whether or not they've broken up and if they've reunited, and their life journey up to the present. A good example would be that I just recently found out that Fall Out Boy had taken a hiatus in 2009[1] and reunited in 2013. Learning this kind of information helps me establish a stronger connection to these artists, which in turn boosts my listening experience of their music.
Article Evaluation
[edit]I've always been invested in the band Fall Out Boy, keeping tabs on what they do as a band and as individuals. I always do my best to keep up to date on them via trusted sources, so I've got some knowledge and context for evaluating the article that I've chosen. Seeing that Fall Out Boy is a bit too large to work with, I narrowed it down to my favorite member of this band, Andy Hurley, who is their drummer. I visited Andy's Wikipedia page and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: if any of the sources have any bias, if there's any irrelevant information, and whether the article itself is biased or neutral.
Is Bias Found in the References?
[edit]There are a total of 25 references used within Andy’s Wikipedia page, and surprisingly, I couldn’t find any sign of bias in any of them. Most of the references were either interviews, tweets, or re-telling of stories that happened while the band was on tour. One of the references was just the official Fall Out Boy website[2]. The editors for this page chose some great articles.
Do the References have Relevance?
[edit]All references used have relevance to the page. All information cited is used, but there were a couple of references that I found interesting. A few that caught my eye were reference #2, which was a store page to buy the same model of drumsticks Andy used on a tour. Some tweets were referenced as well, a few being from Andy himself, and others from Focused Minds.
Is the Page Neutral?
[edit]With how popular Fall Out Boy and its members are, Andy’s wiki page is very neutral. It truly explains Andy’s upbringing and achievements. I haven’t seen many wiki pages with no biased content whatsoever. It just goes to show that those who worked on the page wanted to truly share Andy’s story without bias.
Wrapping Up
[edit]Researching this page really did surprise me. I was not expecting to find no bias whatsoever. I have to give this page a perfect 10 out of 10. The amount of research done and articles found, all of which with no bias, baffles me in a good way. Those who worked on this page honestly deserve some kind of reward for their work, because this page is the only page I’ve seen so far without any bias.
