I am an independent writer, journalist, thinker, musician and all around cool guy - just ask me! I am new as an editor on Wikipedia as of 6/9/2014 although I edit several other wikis and even admin one wiki and several Facebook groups. My current focus is on the crisis in the Ukraine. I pretty much quit following the news when I quit my last reporting job at a newspaper, then realized that was impossible, and decided to switch my focus to international news, as I get too caught up and have too much difficulty remaining unbiased when it is news closer to home.

I first got wind of the Ukraine crisis by complete accident after I stumbled across an article by Simon Ostrovsky on ViceNews.com (a brilliant reporter, by the way, if a little biased - understandably, after his capture and beating by Pro-Russian forces), after which I was completely engrossed in the story and the escalation of the situation over there. I felt compassion for both sides (although there are really about four different factions, not including the Right Sektor and the Cossacks), and understood - to the best of my ignorant, American ability - the anger, fear and frustration that both the pro-Russian separatists and the Ukrainian nationalists must be feeling at such a heightened and tumultuous time in that country's history. In the Age of the Internet, it's hard to imagine that a civilized country with so much beauty and life can still harbor that kind of corruption in government. Yet there - as here in the U.S. - these types of thug politicians still prevail, and they can, and do, still manipulate the system to line their own pockets with corporate dollars and tax dollars, and get away with it like bandits. I get it, man. And so I joined Wikipedia as an editor so that there is a clear, unbiased voice within those editorial pages concerning this particular issue, and also to emphasize the fact that even though we have elected officials, they do not represent the will of Americans, as those elected officials in Ukraine are clearly not representing theirs.
