He had a Tomare legechhe ato je bhalo of hit singles in the late 1980s and 1990s, including "Ato sur ar ato gaan", "Raat nijhum". Although most of hit songs were slow Jhoro jhoro baridhara shondhay, many of his songs had a classic style. Timir Nandy is Gold Medalist of East Pakistan Music Competition in 1969. From that year he had started singing on Radio Pakistan & pakistan Television Corporation. He is a Freedom Fighter of Bangladesh as he was part of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra in 1971.
