Wikify

As you are reading this I can guess you have come here clicking a link on any edit summary or I have asked you to read this. In Wikipedia I do lots of copyedit and specially Wikify. I start from this page and keep on editing and Wikfying articles.

While Wikifying I do–

• Check and correct common formatting errors
• Try to solve dablinks and fill bare URLs
• Basic MOS check.
• Spelling check.

While Wikifying I (generally) don't

• Check accuracy of information
• Dead link check
• Image license check
• Major restructuring.
• POV/NPOV check.
• I don't remove the Wikify tag even I have completely done the work

TPS

Yes, I am a talk page stalker. I sometimes read messages of your talk page. And try to jump in when I see these things–

• Your page is vandalized or you are being attacked.
• You have got dablink notice and I can solve it.
• You are inactive and–
  • Hazard-bot has posted a message that one of your non-free file is not being used in article.
  • Someone does not know you are inactive and looking for some reply.
• I have got some message and where I have something to add (I do it rarely).

Requested move

I have done a requested moves in Wikipedia (I was trying to find the exact number of moves I have requested, but, in this discussion I was told, it is not very easy to find the number). Here are some of my ideas and opinions on my/overall requested move–

When requesting

I mainly depend on–

• • Government websites (I search in Google with Query inurl:gov
  • Reliable Newspapers (eg. Times of India, New York Times, CNN website, BBC website etc, I start searching from Google News and then manually search in some newspaper websites.
  • Google Books (I generally try to gather references from notable publishers and writer and if possible only those books which offer full view or preview)

I don't (try not to) depend on–

• IMDb references.
• Not so popular websites.

Creating a new section by editing last section of a section

Please do not think I am trying to teach you something, it is just my opinion (which I first mentioned here, feel free to ignore it if you dislike.)
When we create a new section at someone's talk page the edit summary becomes like this /*Last section title*/reply. It goes worse when we don't write edit summary /*Last section title*/. The other editor who is watching the pectin may get confused since he can not understand if you are replying to that message or creating a new section. It email notifications too (where edit summary is added) it remains unclear. So, it might be a good practice to—

• Either creating a new section by pressing Alt+⇧ Shift++
• Or mention "New message" in edit summary if new section is created by editing last section.

How you can stop other editors from editing last section of your talk page

Add #top in your signature's talk page link, it'll take them to top of your talk page. And if your talk page is too long, it'll be easier for them to click on the "New section" link than browsing to the bottom or pressing End --Tito Dutta (talk) 06:20, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Editing while reading

If you have been redirected here from any edit summary, that means I went to the article with the sole intention to read it (not to edit it) and have made few edits during my read. I know it might be disturbing for you if you see a bunch of minor edits one after another and you may wonder, why isn't the editor making all edits at a single save. But, note the point in such article, I can't correct a typo of the fifth paragraph of an article until I reach there.

Request autograph

Sometimes I ask other users to "give autograph", that means the editor has forgotten to sign somewhere. But, I know a) (s)he is a senior/long-time editor and it was just a minor error,so I don't put {{Unsigned}} b) don't directly say, Hey, you have not signed there, go and sign but, I ask autograph to keep things friendly and polite! --Tito Dutta (contact) 06:36, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
