Event-Native

[edit]

Event-native refers to both a set of practices and a category of software (often SaaS or B2B software solutions) that help organizations reduce complexity while implementing event-driven architectures, asynchronous communication, etc., or optimize how existing event-driven systems are supported across the organization.

Frequently, Event-native practices and software are focused on: Supporting asynchronous and evented APIs Democratizing access to Event-brokers Supporting transformation, security, and advanced routing of events and event APIs Providing mediation between two different protocols or communication patterns, examples being synchronous APIs (i.e. REST APIs) to asynchronous APIs, proprietary event brokers protocols over HTTP (eg. Streaming Kafka events and messages over a WebSocket API/connection), etc.

Some examples of Event-native tooling include:

  • Event-native Full-lifecycle API Management solutions
  • Event brokers and event streaming platforms
  • Message queues/services
