Ingrid Gerdes (born September 2, 1981 in Little Rock, Arkansas) is a contemporary American singer and Actress[1] best known for her blending of southern roots music and modern neo-soul. Her songs have been featured on television stations like Showtime, MTV and in worldwide retail giants H&M, Coach and Abercrombie & Fitch. On Thanksgiving Day 2011 Ms. Gerdes was featured on NPR's All Things Considered.[2]

Biography[edit]

Ingrid Gerdes was born September 1981 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She grew up in the Ozarks are of Springfield, MO and began singing at the age of 4. By age 6 she was writing her own music and winning composition contests in her local elementary school. She continued studying classical voice throughout her high school years and at age 15 she was selected as Vocalist of The Year by Missouri State University. She attended The University of Kansas from 2000-2002 dual majoring in Classical Voice Performance and Film. She attended Berklee College of Music[3] from 2002-2005 graduating with a B.A in Profession Music. She was one of the singers she was selected as a soloist in the acclaimed Singers Night twice; once in 2004 and again in 2005.

In 2005 Ms. Gerdes recorded her self-titled E.P. Following that she released a full length follow up in 2008 called "The Eclectic Collection.[4] In 2010 she recorded and released "Shed"[5] which has garnered critical claim all over the United States and Europe. The first single off that record, "Move", was released October 1, 2011 [6] In the spring of 2011 she travelled to Providenciales Turks and Caicos to film her first music video "Shed". In November 2011 she was featured on NPR's 'All Things Considered'.

In the Fall of 2012 she made her debut at Boston's Symphony Hall singing the song 'Snake Eater' with the critically acclaimed Video Game Orchestra. On September 29, 2012 she performed at the Cutting Edge Music Conference and Festival [7] in the renowned Irvin Mayfield's IClub
