The New Public Administration Article that we chose touches on what they user thought new public administration is. Although the word new is used in the title examples from the 1960's are used in the opening of the article to depict what bad public administration will get you. It spoke of turmoil in the country that was racially divided and the down falls of that divide. From there it defined term like "public interest" and "public policy" to help the reader clearly understand what the terminology used throughout the text actually means. The article is heavily pushing towards unity and that being the ultimate job of a public administrator. Although I love the message out fourth, I cannot say that the information provided was totally factual. Many of the links did not open, and some of the article seemed opinion based. Nevertheless, the job of a public administrator is opinion based, what is right and wrong can vary based on the people you are working for and your personal experiences. So I do not totally discredit the article, facts would just make it stronger.

Bourgon, Jocelyne, and Ont.) Queen's University (Kingston. A New Synthesis of Public Administration : Serving in the 21st Century. Montreal: Queen's Policy Studies, 2011. eBook Collection (EBSCOhost)

In this book what particularly stood out to me was the mention of case study. In class we do case studies once a week so the connection to what we actually do in class caught my eye. In the book the case studies were done within country to country; this was interesting to me because we never really think that our American problems could be universal especially on the basis of public administration. Each country did two case studies that in bodied their problems at the end 17 were chosen for the nations to come together and help each other out in the way of finding a solution. Instead of seeing them as enemies are thinking that their is no way a developing country could relate to our problems. We should be more open to new ideas sometimes looking at things at a new view point can make answers that much clearer. From there they spoke about turning plans into action, which is where most problems with public administration as a whole happens. This is something that we often see in out in class case studies, the problem isn't the plan its actually implementing it when disaster strikes.

"Public Health Detailing--A Successful Strategy to Promote Judicious Opioid Analgesic Prescribing." American Journal Of Public Health 106, no. 8: 1430-1438. CINAHL Complete, EBSCOhost

In the online journal we see the obvious efforts to alert the public about their health and their plan to limit the prescribing of opioids to the public. While the topic of public administration is not being discussed directly there are fingers pointed to public administration in the way of implementing them limiting opioids from being generously proscribed to the public. This is for the betterment of the "people" so therefore it has major standing in the public administration world. After all at the base of a public administrators job is the implementation of policy. "They make the laws we enforce them" approach is taken with policy and public administrators.

Hughes, Peter, Glen Barclay, and Colin MacDonald. "FUTURE FOCUS: the public service in 2025. (cover story)." Public Sector 39, no. 3 (September 2016): 5-8. Political Science Complete, EBSCOhost

This article touches on the future of public service and where it is going from here. America prides itself on having multiple agencies and check point that all work together to make this country work. But what needs to change when these policies fall short of coming through? This acticle argues that eventually the government needs to become a one stop shop , multiple agencies cause confusion and leave room for things to fall through the cracks.Their vision is that policy and public service would be together on making the laws and then together on enforcing them. That way the people signing off on the laws actually see thinngs come to florishen, and also gives them a chance to see the impact of these changes first hand. This way people would see change faster and government would too. This can only make for a happier U.S. right ?

This journal shares a story of two labs that both wanted to do embryotic cell research, but one was awarded the funding and the other was not. University of California was award the grant to do the research while Tulane, a historically black college, was not. Why wouldn't the same grant be filled by doing the same type of research under President Bush ? Public administration comes in when it comes to distributing the funds that the government has sent aside for this research. Why would one university get the money , why doesn't the other deserve the same? Public administrators pushed for Tulane to get the funding and was successful. I often say public administration speaks up for the little guys, and in this case they did.

Public Health Reports (Washington, D.C.: 1974) 131 Suppl 1, (January 2016): 5-10. MEDLINE Complete, EBSCOhost

This journal has to do with the partnership of the U.S. Department of health teaming up with New York to provide free and available testing and treatment of AIDS/HIV and other STD's. While this is for the betterment of community, tis case study is great because it is two different agencies with the same goal. Working together to successfully make a huge change in major way. The plan put together by both parties was carried out by public administrators in the New York City area. All throughout they found clinics, helped hand out flyer, and seeked help for the ill. This is what public administration is about when everyone is working together, it make their job a little easier and it makes it even more worth while. A mass of people are now more educated of disease and know if they have it or not.

The New Public Administration Article was good in the explanation of what public administration is at its core, but it doesn't go not detail about what they actually do. It doesn't give situational examples of the many works a public administrator does. So I would like to add case studies to show the reader examples of what an actual public administrator does in the line of work. Case studies would expose the problems with administering policy and the things we can do in the future to improve on it. I would not only put cases where things went wrong but also cases where things went right.

[edit]

Overall the article needs more hard fact. Although this topic can seem subjective on what works as talent management, there are still base rules that should be in every wok place. Those solid things should be on the page. Along with more information in general. I think case studies that show real life dealings with talent management would also be a good addition. We sould make sure the links work and they a reliable and have factual things.
