Like all types of pages, templates are sometimes moved from one name to another. For templates it is extra important to be careful moving the page doesn't introduce any issues or break transclusions. The potenital for issues if done improperly should however not be used as an argument against moving templates to a better name since with proper precautions and experience the process is perfectly smooth.

Potential issues[edit]

Many moves can be done like usual, moving the page leaving a redirect behind with no affect on transclusions. Below is a non-comprehensive list of situations where this isn't the case.
