User:Two hundred percent/Gallery/Vehicles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This gallery is primarily concentrated on road vehicles that are most common in Malaysia and Southeast Asia (primarily localised versions that differ from either JDMs or Western counterparts). The gallery currently encompasses primarily of vehicles from the late-1990s and 2000s, since road vehicles manufactured 10 years ago or more (with the exception of earlier Protons) are increasingly phased out by newer replacements.

As the Malaysian government basically forces Malaysians to purchase local cars by imposing taxes on imported vehicles, Protons and Peroduas are by far the most common models seen on Malaysian roads. While this limits the scope of cars that can be photographed, this also increases the opportunity of documenting basically all common Malaysian car models. Meanwhile, Toyotas and Hondas (which partially consist of CKD versions) make up a majority of a foreign car minority in Malaysia, so these cars are not in short supply either.

Finding local cars manufactured after 1995 is easy, but this is hampered by frequent modifications of such vehicles that eliminate their original appearances, encompassing bumpers, lights and rims. To complicate situations, many of the parts are interchangeable between different generations of marques due to minimal changes in facelifts. Unmodified first generation Proton Sagas are, in particular, difficult to find, as are the first series of Proton Wira Aerobacks from the early 1990s.
