My name is John Green. I am from a small town in the state of Kentucky known as Bell County, where I met my wonderful girlfriend of two years, her name is Amber. My hobbies include playing football, tennis, basketball, hunting, and fishing, and hanging out with my Papaw. I love to listen to music. I mostly listen to country music but, my favorite artist is Brantley Gilbert. I also like to listen to southern rock and blue grass. I love to go sit with my papaw on my free time and drink hot black coffee and listen to his stories about how much better the good ole days were compared to now. I am a very simple person, I don't need the finer things in life to please me, although I am a very hard worker I strive to do the best I can do and to be the best that I can be. I am a Patriot I love this country and what it stands for. Usually when I’m home I attend a small Baptist church called East Pineville. My papaw is a deacon at east Pineville and he has always taught me right from wrong, he also taught me that God should always be my number one priority. I am a student athlete at the University of Pikeville. I chose to come to the University of Pikeville so I could live my dream and play college football. I am a Biology major hoping to succeed and attend the physical therapy program at the University of Kentucky. I first figured out that I wanted to be a physical therapist after I tore a muscle in my back my 7th grade year. It hurt so bad I had never experienced such a pain. My mother got me in to see a physical therapist that we knew fairly well and it was like magic, my back felt so much better the next day. It really interested me how they could take an athlete with an injury and get him back to normal in such short notice. After this long road I hope to live on a farm so that my days after college and even after work can be filled with hunting, fishing, big family gatherings, and an easy going life with no troubles or worries. I have a wonderful girlfriend, her name is Amber Slusher. Amber and I met our freshman year in high school. We started dating September 18th of our junior year. Out of all the things that I like to do, probably the one thing I like the most is spending time with her. Not only is she my girlfriend, but she is my best friend. She’s always been there for me through hard times and easy times and I’ll always be thankful for her. Besides Amber my second favorite that to spend my time doing is hunting. Growing up my dad always took me hunting with him. My 7th grade year I killed my first deer and I can never quit hunting.

My Views of Technology

[edit]

Growing up as a kid, the only things my brothers and I would do is go outside and play basketball, baseball, football, shoot guns, and we even took it as far as using snow sleds to slide down our leafy hill during the summer time. Life was simple, we didn't have to worry about looking at phones all the time to text or holding a phone up to our ears to talk, we simply just loved to play outside and exercise. By my sixth grade year every body was wanting the Xbox 360 gaming system. My parents done every thing but get us an Xbox and i think God that they didn't get us one at that age. The Xbox changed the life of many of my friends, instead of going out and riding four-wheelers or doing something out side all they wanted to do was sit in the house be lazy and play Xbox. In my opinion, technology is a distraction. Technology takes your mind off of what you should do and what you need to do. For example: Kids are suppose to have at least 1 hour of exercise a day, kids would rather sit in the house all day and play Xbox, talk/text on a phone, or mess around on a computer. When parents do not limit the time spent for children on technology they're putting their child life at a huge risk of obesity which could lead to diabetes, depression, and other serious illnesses. We have used technology so much and so long younger generations cant do simple math without a phone or a calculator. Ive seen cases where people my age don't know how to read a simple ruler. Technology makes us dumber as humans because we rely on it for everything instead of doing what we should know how to do on our own.

Is Wikipedia Helpful or Harmful

[edit]

I first discovered Wikipedia my freshman year in high school. It was always one of the first web pages brought up whenever I done a Google search. I was never really interested in Wikipedia that much, I always thought of it as being a dull web site it just didn't look very promising. My senior year in high school we had to do a senior project which was a researched argument power point and paper. I’ll never forget how many times my English teacher told the class NOT TO USE WIKIPEDIA. I always wondered why we couldn't use Wikipedia for a source. Someone in the class finally asked her why we couldn't use it and she just kept repeating that Wikipedia wasn't a credible site, any one could get on there and type whatever they want to type, or anyone could get on there and change whatever they wanted to change. It really didn't bother me that we couldn't use Wikipedia as a source, but she drilled that into our heads so many times i just thought it was the most harmful webpage on the internet. That thought remained in my head until I took college English 111 class. My professor made us read a book called clay foot titan. The book was about how useful Wikipedia could be when trying to find out information about a topic. My professor was clearly correct that Wikipedia is more helpful than it is harmful because you can check the sources that other people have used and make sure it’s a credible source. Reading clay foot titan taught us all about Wikipedia and how to use it. Wikipedia has been one of my most helpful tools throughout my first year of college because I’ve wrote so many research arguments and Wikipedia is usually where I start off.
