Twisted Metal

Turkey Bowl

You and I apparently are the only ones who even look at this page, having said that, I disagree with your revert of my last edit. The page is about local sports on Thanksgiving day, not just established high school rivalries (See: List of high school football rivalries (100 years+). If it is to be a page at all, the focus of it is what is done by average (non-notable) americans on Thanksgiving day. Only in america do everyday people celebrate this holiday in this manner. People around the world have no way of knowing that american males meet once a year with high school chums and play football. The practice itself is the story and therefore notable. I included a link to a newspaper story on the page. Even the reporter of that article acknowledged that the participants were nobodies but the tradition was worth commenting on. I simply edited in examples of why it happens, how it happens, with whom and where it happens. Discuss? 67knight 21:46, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, I certainly didn't mean for my last edit to look like a revert; I left a lot of the information you had added. I know that there are a number of "regular guys" (i.e. not high school football teams) who get together to hold Turkey Bowls. Which is why I added the link to "Pass the turkey and the football". I agree that we should mention it, in a vague way. I think perhaps where we differ in opinion is that you think we should have specific examples of "regular guy Turkey Bowls" while I think it is enough to simply say that a lot of people who are not affiliated with an official team get together around Thanksgiving to play football and that these rivalries can last a long time. What do you think about having links to articles about specific rivalries and in the article itself just discuss the different types of Turkey Bowls? · Tygartl1^·talk· 14:20, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for using the word revert, you are right, you did leave some of my last edit. Anyway, I really laughed out loud when I first saw the picture of the pizza guys posing for their Turkey bowl picture and just knew that on small strips of grass and dirt across America, similar pictures were being taken, probably at around the same time.(we do have to get home and actually eat Thanksgiving dinner) I even have one of me here in Baltimore(that I will not post). I was trying to catch the flavor of the moment. I can live with your compromise.(the turkey day page probably should be combined with it.)67knight 18:23, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Area codes in Iowa

I have changed the List of Iowa area codes so that it is a summary of the information for each of the area codes shown on the page. See, for example List of Texas area codes or List of California area codes for how it's being done on other pages. Since the information on this page was already present on each of the area code pages, it seems foolish to repeat it, so I've moved what was here that was missing to those pages. As I see it, a "list of area codes" page is supposed to give a quick list; the actual page should go into full detail. Just wanted to let you know since you've been doing some editing on that page. I don't understand this edit. I have added a fair use rationale to these images and I feel your threat to block is unnecessary. I didn't simply revert your removal of the images; I read the fair use rationale thoroughly, took the time to add the rationales to the images, and then replaced the pictures.
