kBox (short for kinetic box) is a multi-exercise machine for strength training based on isoinertial flywheel technology, introduced in 2011 by Swedish manufacturer Exxentric AB.

History[edit]

The kBox was created by Fredrik Correa and Mårten Fredriksson in 2011. Thereafter, versions kBox2, kBox2.5, kBox3[1] and the kBox4 Pro and kBox4 Lite[2] have been launched.

Technology[edit]

To create the required resistance, the kBox uses the inertia of one or several flywheels instead of the gravity pulling on traditional weights. The flywheels are connected to a shaft. The shaft is set in motion by a drive belt connected to the user with an attachment.

The kBox is optimised for 30+ different exercises, and available attachments include an ergonomic harness for lower body exercises, as well as a bar and grips mainly for upper body exercises.

The kBox facilitates eccentric as well as concentric contractions and isometric training.

The power created during exercise on the kBox along with further variables can be measured and analysed using the optional kMeter app launched in 2015.

Exercises[edit]

Typical exercises officially facilitated by the kBox device include variations of squat, deadlift, biceps curl, lunge, triceps extension, bent-over row and more.[3]
