Victor Basic Research Laboratory e. V.

Victor Basic Research Laboratory e. V. is an eingetragener Verein, in Bielefeld, Germany. It was initiated by Dr. Victor Wei-Keh Wu (Chao) and has been founded on the Feb. 11(Th), 1993, on the day of his birthday. She appears often in either victorbres, Victorbres, or VBR. The following text is formulated by "Dr. Wu". "I" is used and equivalent to "Dr. Wu". In May, 1993, I took part in the International Symposium of Molecular Beams in Spandau, Germany, and met the Profs. G.-Z. HE (何國鐘) and J.-L. BAI (白吉玲) from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. They have then visited the Laboratories of the Faculty of Physics and that of Chemistry of the University of Bielefeld, Bielefeld, Germany, especially the crossed atomic and molecular beams, or beam facilities. They also visited the home of Dr. Wu, at the Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse 12, 4800 Bielefeld 1, Germany. The postal code has been systematically changed, and is now 33615 Bielefeld, instead of 4800 Bielefeld 1, after the 3rd reunion of Germany, and Postal Code revolution around the year of 1995.

One day of Jun.1985, at 11:30, there came three persons to me, Laboratory room No.252, Faculty of Physics, Univ. of Bielefeld, Germany. One could see immediately from their appearances, clothes, and shoes, that they were from Mainland China.

They asked: whether I were Dr. Wu, I replied: Yes, what could I do for you?

We came from the Chinese Academy of Sciences of Mainland China, and intended to invite you, and your whole family to visit China at any comfortable time I was available, to join our Great socialist motherland construction.

It was incredible great, it was just too great to refuse it. I was still a Dr. Student, and would soon get my Dr. I was still an unkown and incompetent person, didn't have any SCI publication, and had even still the problem to extend my residence permission in this country (West Germany).

There was no problem. As soon as I had the intention. We would take care of and solve all the problems.

I was invited in JuL.1993 for two weeks to visit the beam facilities of the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Reaction Dynamics (SKLMRD) of the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Further more, I was invited for the cooperative researches there for two years. Whatever, I was very much astonished, and unimaginably happy with great honor indeed.
