Palmaz Ahmad (Taekwondo)[edit]

Palmaz Ahmad (born 29 August 1999) is a British-born British taekwondo athlete, who has been ranked the number one in the U18, U16 and youth fighters −60 kg division on several occasions. He is a two-time European champion having won the −60 kg title at the European Taekwondo Championships in 2010, 2012 representing Great Britain and 2014 representing Great Britain and was the world junior champion in the −50 kg division in 2008.

He represented Great Britain in the European Championships despite being the youngest Member in the Team GB team to do so. By the Age of 16 he was a 4 time English Champion, 2 Time British Champion and 2 Time European Champion. He was dubbed the next Aaron Cook but unfortunately injuries kept him out of the sport for 1 year and hasn't returned to fight since. Following this, Ahmad indicated he would no longer work with the governing authorities in Team GB.

In 2015 when the World championships in Dublin were held, Ahmad was one of 76 competitors to compete in the -78 kg division. unfortunately in the Final versus Marco Zumpa he was defeated due to injury. Ahmad ended his campaign because of a reoccurring Thigh issue in the bicep lemoris. Since then he has Completed his A-Levels and now is studying Computing at the University Of Kent.

Early Life[edit]

He Started Kickboxing at the age of 4 and soon found success in this martial art by winning the Phoenix inter-School tournament by helping the Crawley team achieve victory over the Croydon based school in the final. Crawley won this tournament on 6 other occasions with the likes of Joshua Meek and Almaz Ahmad. since winning the Phoenix inter-School tournaments in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 & 2010. He Soon found success in the domestic Championships by winning the WAKO league Twice, from 2008 and 2010 he Earned a Black stash in Kickboxing and Kung Fu. After all this success he left the sport to pursue Thai Boxing and Taekwondo.

Thai Boxing:[edit]

He continued Thai Boxing while he Trained Taekwondo as "One Sport doesn't teach you how to fight, you must be adaptable" Ahmad stated in 2014. He never competed in Thai Boxing due to increase focus in Taekwondo and the hopes of reaching the 2020 olympics.
