About me

[edit]

I am a new student at Everett Community College. I am interested in learning chemistry, the study of what and how different elements and compounds act.[1] I find joy in writing poetry and reading other people’s poetry. Playing classical music on my piano is one of my favorite hobbies, since it is very relaxing. I enjoy reading realistic fiction and verse novels. When there is beautiful weather, I like to capture nature through photography. Music is my ultimate passion, particularly Latin, hip-hop, and R&B genres. I am also passionate about social justice issues and environmental issues.

My Wikipedia Interests

[edit]

Now and throughout my life I will use Wikipedia to research, observe, and learn more about medicine and health. I am especially interested in the medical field and becoming a registered nurse or a nurse practitioner. I’d mostly make small edits to medical articles that were either misleading or untrue. I believe looking into both medicine and health will be very important for the career I plan to pursue.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

Alexis Ffrench is one of the many classical artists that I’ve enjoyed listening to. I love the various styles and melodies he creates in his music, which is why I’d like to ensure that this article has all correct and necessary information. I want Wikipedia’s content on Alexis Ffrench to be exceptional, hence, I visited the Alexis Ffrench article on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its missing information, its over and under representation of information, and lack of reliable and appropriate cited sources.

Missing Information

[edit]

I’ve noticed that throughout many articles about classical artists they have a lot of information about their family members and different people in their lives that impacted their career. In this Wikipedia article about Alexis Ffrench his parents are briefly mentioned, and his friend was also referenced little. This article doesn’t say anything about his parent’s or friend’s backstory, how these people affected French’s career, or how they helped him achieve something.

Over and Underrepresented Information

[edit]

The article mentions Ffrench’s successes. He hosted Classical Connection, signed with different companies, and became the first Artistic Director of the Royal Schools of Music. The article does mention when he started with Scala Radio and what he did there. However, this Wikipedia article does not elaborate on his other accomplishments or when he achieved them. I believe these are important and should be better represented.

Lack of Reliable & Appropriate Cited Sources

[edit]

In this Wikipedia article they use a lot of reliable and appropriate cited sources. However, in the section influences, the first two paragraphs have a lot of information but are lacking cited sources to prove any of the content stated is true. In addition, the third paragraph in this section has a citation but the information in the citation given is not appropriate for the claims they are mentioning in the paragraph.

Conclusion

[edit]

Ultimately, I believe that this page was “fine”. There was some good content provided, however a considerable amount of the content provided was basic. In addition, this page lacked cited sources, making some of the information on this page unreliable. Also, many important details that were needed got left out.
