Enis Calik (* 11 May 2006 in Hamburg) is a German taekwondo athlete.[3]

Career history[edit]

Calik began practising the martial art taekwondo at the age of eight. As a child, he trained for several years through the German Football Association's talent development programme at a DFB base in Hamburg, but gave up football in favour of taekwondo.[4]

Junior[edit]

Calik became European champion in the 41 kg weight category at the European Cadet Championships in Sarajevo in 2020.[5]

In 2022, he competed in the World Youth Championships in Sofia[6] and the European Under-21 Championships in Tirana, but did not reach the podium. Later that year, he won a bronze medal at the German under 21 Championships in the 55 kg weight category.

At the 2022 German Junior Championships, Calik competed in the 55 kg category, and at the 2023 Junior Championships in the 59 kg category. Both times he achieved first place.[7] Furthermore, he became European champion in the weight category up to 59 kg at the 2023 European Junior Championships held in Tallinn.[8]

Senior[edit]

In 2023, Calik competed at the German Senior Championships in the weight category up to 58 kg and achieved first place.[9] In the same year, he became German champion in the under 21 championships in the weight class up to 63 kg.

Calik took part in the 2023 World Taekwondo Championships in Baku in the 58 kg category but lost in his opening bout to Issa Diakité from the Ivory Coast.[10]

At the German Taekwondo Championships in the Olympic weight classes, which were held in 2023 as part of 'Die Finals' in Düsseldorf, Calik achieved first place in the 58 kg weight category. He thus became the first taekwondin to win four German championship titles within the same year.[11][12]

Camille La Cour Pedersen (Born 2005 or 2006) is a Danish taekwondo athlete. She is the 2021 European Poomsae team silver medalist.

Career history[edit]

Junior competitions[edit]

Eva Sandersen started practicing the Korean martial arts taekwondo in 2009 at the suggestion of her parents.

Sandersen participated in her first major competition as a cadet at the 2015 Austrian Open in Austria, where she placed first in the Recocnized Poomsae Competition.[1]

In 2016, she competed at the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Peru, where she won a silver medal in the junior's freestyle competition in the age group "under 17" (ages 15 to 17).[2] Additionally, she competed in the junior's Recognized Poomsae competition, where she placed fifth.[3] At this competition, Eva also competed alongside teammates Lærke Pedersen and Emma Kayerød-Rasmussenwon in the synchronous-team category, where the group received a fifth place as well.[4]

Sandersen won a gold medal in the junior's Recognized Poomsae competition (ages 15 to 17) at the 2017 Taekwondo European Championships.[5] At the same event, she also earned a second place in the junior's freestyle competition.

In 2018, Sandersen participated in the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, where she earned two bronze medals – on in the Recognized Poomsae competition and on in the Freestyle Poomsae competition for the age group from 15 to 17 years.[6] That same year, she won the gold medal in the Recognized Poomsae competition at the 2018 World Taekwondo Beach Championships.

Senior competitions[edit]

Sandersen participated in her first senior competition in 2018, at the World Taekwondo Beach Championships in Rhodes, where she had also competed as a Junior in the Recognized Poomsae competition, and claimed the silver medal in the women's Freestyle Poomsae competition.[1]

2019, at the 14th Taekwondo European Poomsae Championships in Antalya, she became double-European champion in the women's Recognized Poomsae and freestyle competition.[7]

In February 2020, Sandersen ruptured an Achilles tendon during a training session and had to take a break from competing for six months.[8]

At the end of the same year, she won her first major medal on the international stage at the 2020 Online World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, where she claimed bronze. The competition was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[9]

In 2021, Sandersen won two gold medals, in both the traditional poomsae category and the freestyle category of the women's senior competition (over 17 years of age) at the 15th Taekwondo European Poomsae Championships in Portugal.[10][11][12]

At the Goyang 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, she became the world champion in the women's Recognized Poomsae senior competition (ages 18 to 30).[13][14] Additionally, Sandersen won the bronze medal in the women's Freestyle Poomsae competition.[15][16]

Public appearances[edit]

Sandersen participated in the fifth and final season of Danmark Har Talent in November 2019. She performed several programs consisting of taekwondo moves combined with stunt elements. Sandersen advanced into the finals but missed out on the Top 5, finishing in the 6th to 10th ranking.[17][18][19]

Personal life[edit]

Sandersen began studying for a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2021.[8]
