Housing assistant program are programs that provide housing or subsidies for families or individuals who are in need.[1] The housing assistance is provided through federal funded programs such as, US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Department of Health and Human Services, and the US Department of Homeland Security.Programs often have eligibility and application requirements.

Programs offered[edit]

Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) is a subsidy voucher that is provided to families or individuals to offset cost for housing.[2] Public housing agency is a provider who distribute vouchers with funds provided by HUD. The voucher is paid directly to the landlord and the family or individual is responsible for the difference in cost.[3]

Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities provides subsidized housing to people with disabilities.[4]
