Mafalda Minnozzi (born September 21, 1967 in Pavia/MI) is an Italian pop-jazz-swing singer who created a uniquely styled world music mixing Brazilian and Italian influences and rhythms with a modern, original touch.

Having developed a career of over 25 years in Italy and abroad, Mafalda came to know Brazil in 1996. It was love at first sight. There she has had many important musical encounters with the likes of Nico Assumpção, Raul Mascarenhas, Armando Marçal, Hugo Fattoruso and Osvaldinho do Acordeon among others. She has also sung in some remarkable collaborations with Martinho da Vila, Guinga and Paulo Moura.

It was also in Brazil where Mafalda met the North American guitar player Paul Ricci who is the current musical director and producer, and who is also responsible for the arrangements of the concerts.

Together with Mafalda he has also worked on the 7 CDs of the artist's career released in Brazil as well as on the latest CD "SPRITZ".

"SPRITZ" is also the concert which accompanies the release of the CD on the stages of Brazil`s major cities from September 2012 and all over the world from January 2013.

The repertoire of the concert "SPRITZ” is a combination of individual creativity and respect for tradition where Mafalda Minnozzi interprets the hits of the "Golden Age" of Italian Music: 50´s and 60´s

The creative singer and composer Mafalda Minnozzi was born in Pavia, in northern Italy, under the sign of Virgo on September 21st.

She grew up listening with attention to the most expressive artists of the 30s and the 40s American Jazz like Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Billie Holiday and later Sarah Vaugham, Frank Sinatra, Edith Piaf, Sade, Annie Lennox, Elis Regina, Ornella Vanoni, Nat King Cole, Joe Cocker and Lucio Dalla. Ennio Morricone’s themes have always aroused in her strong emotions.

Her admiration for these artists and her natural passion for music spurred her to take part in several festivals and to open shows of acclaimed national artists across Italy, accompanied by her own band.

From 1987 to 1994, Mafalda`s popularity grew as she sang to ever increasing audiences In 1994 Mafalda was contracted by RAI (Radio Televisione Italiana) to participate in the historic national daily Tv show “Uno Mattina”. There she developed her skills not only as a singer but also in presenting musical segways, gaining much national popularity during her two year tenure.

In 1996 Mafalda arrived for the first time in Brazil to present a series of shows at the club "Paradiso" in Rio de Janeiro. Her love affair with Brazil began here. In the same year Mafalda recorded her first live CD entitled "Uma Noite no Paradiso", issued by the Brazilian record company Som Livre.

In 1997, due to the successful sales of her debut CD in Brazil, Mafalda renewed her contract with Som Livre records and released her second CD “Effetto Azzurro”.

In 1997 Mafalda Minnozzi started the artistic collaboration with the guitarist-arranger-producer Paul Ricci from New York and this collaboration is still continuing. Paul Ricci graduated in guitar at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. He is an experienced musician as he played for many years in the most famous jazz clubs in New York like Blue Note and Birdland. As a componer he can boast the making of the soundtrack of the prize-winning film “Ready”. As a guitarist and arranger he accompanied a lot of artists such as Harry Bellafonte and the Brazilian Astrud Gilberto and Bebel Gilberto.

In 1999, Mafalda Minnozzi released her third CD for Som Livre records entitled "Angelo Blu". In the same year, the internationally successful novela "Terra Nostra" (Globo network) marked Mafalda`s presence as a collaborator in soundtrack production. The CD "Terra Nostra" sold more than 1 million copies and confirmed Mafalda Minnozzi`s popularity in Brasil.

In 2002 Mafalda actively participated in the musical production of a new Globo network novela: "Esperanca". This time the Italian singer also participates in songwriting as a lyricist in the novela`s opening theme entitled "Speranza" (co-written by Laura Pausini).

In 2003, Mafalda recorded “Il Tempo Dell`Amore”, the fourth solo CD of her career.

In 2004 Mafalda Minnozzi had the role of correspondent in Brazil for RADIO RAI (the Italian national radio station).

In 2005 Mafalda Minnozzi participated in the sountrack of the film “O Casamento de Romeu e Julieta” (The Marriage of Romeo and Juliet) by renowned Brazilian filmaker Bruno Barreto. For this occasion, Mafalda composed the original “Gli occhi di Romeo”(The Eyes of Romeo). In the same year Mafalda began the recording of her fifth career solo CD intitled "Controvento", produced by the new independent record label MPI – Musica Popolare Italiana e launched in Brazil in 2007 with a big tour.

In 2009, Mafalda chose Italy, or more precisely, the Feronia theater in the town of San Severino Marche as the scene of the DVD "Mafalda Minnozzi – Live in Italia" to celebrate the first 20 years of her career with a passionate tribute to the Italian folk song recorded on the same old stage where she debuted …. and all began. "Arca Musicale" is the concert which accompanies the release of the DVD "Mafalda Minnozzi - Live in Italy" on the stages of Brazil`s major cities from September 2009 and all over the world from January 2010 presenting original interpretations of popular composers like Paolo Conte, Claudio Mattone, Ivano Fossati and Ennio Morricone.

"Il Bianco, Il Rosso, Il Verde" (White, Red, Green), inspired from the colors of the Italian flag is the title of the show that was produced in 2011 and dedicated to the popular music of Naples, the oldest and most precious result of the Mediterranean countries´multi-cultural integration.

Newest album "SPRITZ" ´s project began in January 2012 and after its publication in September, the Cd was supported by an important tour all over the world: the concert realized in the Auditorium Ibirapuera at Sao Paulo in Brazil was recorded in March, 1st, 2013 to produce the second DVD of Mafalda Minnozzi that will published in four weeks
