List of Black Panther supporting characters[edit]

The Black Panther supporting characters are a collective of fictional characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics featuring the superhero Black Panther as the main protagonist. The characters appear in related animated film and television shows as well as live action iterations of the original comic book source material, though not all are created and used with the same narrative continuities.

Familial lineage[edit]

  • Azzuri the Wise – Paternal grandfather of T'Challa and former Black Panther and ruler of Wakanda.
  • T'Chaka – First-born son of Azzuri the Wise, father of T'Challa and predecessor to the throne and role of Black Panther. Assassinated by Ulysses Klaue.
  • N'Yami – Former queen of Wakanda and biological mother of T'Challa. Dies of a rare autoimmune disease not long after T'Challa is born.
  • Ramonda – Queen Mother of Wakanda. Former South African princess, stepmother of T'Challa and widow of T'Chaka.
  • S'Yan – Second son of Azzuri, brother of T'Chaka and paternal uncle of T'Challa. Serves as chieftain and Black Panther of Wakanda after death of his brother until defeated in ritual battle by T'Challa for the throne.
  • Shuri – Princess of Wakanda, daughter of T'Chaka and Ramonda and half-sister of T'Challa. Takes on role of Black Panther and is current ruler of Wakanda after T'Challa incurs critical injuries in battle against Doctor Doom.
  • A'di – Niece of T'Challa.
  • Billy Wheeler – Son of Mr. Wheeler and husband of M'Koni, maternal cousin of T'Challa.
  • Black Musketeers – Members of the royal family and crime fighting allies that assist King T'Challa on occasion.
    • Ishanta – Businessman of the team involved in high finances and cousin of T'Challa.
    • Joshua Itobo – Cousin of T'Challa. A doctor and inventor of notable high intelligence.
    • Khanata – Driver of the Musketeers team and cousin of T'Challa.
    • Zuni – Sole female member of the group and also a cousin of T'Challa.
  • M'Koni – Wife of Mr. Wheeler, mother of Billy Wheeler and cousin of T'Challa.
  • T'Shan – Son of S'Yan, first cousin of T'Challa and ambassador of Wakandan nation. Resents T'Challa for years after suffering defeat to him in ritual combat for role of king and Black Panther.

  • Black Panther (1,000,000 BC) – Unidentified man that discovered the original Vibranium meteor and unlocked its secrets in the prehistoric era.
  • Negus – First official king of Wakanda and former Black Panther.
  • Bashenga – Ancient chieftain of Wakanda and second Black Panther. Creates the sacred Panther robes in honor of Bast, which are worn by all who follow in his footsteps.
  • Chanda – Former king of Wakanda and Black Panther near the beginning of World War II. Ruler during period when Ulysses Klaue first learns of Wakanda as a Nazi soldier after his plane crashlands in the nation and he is aided by its people.
  • Benhazin – Former ruler of Wakanda who's spirit T'Challa was able to summon as King of the Dead.
  • Hu'Nahn – King of Wakanda and Black Panther of his time.
  • Mamadou Fall – Former carrier of the Black Panther mantle and throne of Wakanda.
  • Nehanda – Former queen of Wakanda and Black Panther.

    • Okoye – A member of the Dora Milaje, Okoye originates from the J'Kuwali tribe and acted as a traditional, proper concomitant to the king. She speaks only to T'Challa in Hausa, an African language not widely spoken in Wakanda which thus affords the king and his wives a measure of privacy.
    • Midnight Angels
      • Aneka – Former combat instructor for the Dora Milaje. After being made a prisoner was rescued by lover and teammate Ayo and formed the vigilante alliance the Midnight Angels.
      • Ayo – Former member of T'Challa's Dora Milaje. After testimonial in lover and fellow member Aneka's trial does not work, breaks her out of prison becomes part of the vigilante duo known as the Midnight Angels.

  • Azari – Son of King T'Challa and Queen Ororo in the Earth-32323, both parents deceased in his dimension. The Earth-555326 version is also the son of T'Challa and Storm, both deceased. This universes Azari possesses inherited abilities of heart-shaped herb from his father as well as electrokinetic capabilities from his mother.
  • K'Shamba – The son of the deceased King T'Challa and leader of Wakanda's underground resistance on Earth-2992 in a dystopian future ruled by Doctor Doom. Unbeknownst to his comrades he is Doom's secret attendant. In the Earth-2149 universe, he is the son of Prince T'Channa and grandson of T'Challa and Queen Lisa Hendricks.
  • Sh'ri – Daughter of T'Challa and Storm in the Earth-1119 universe. She becomes the Black Panther of her universe after her brother T'Chaka II's assumed death.
  • T'Chaka II - Codenamed Coal Tiger, the son of king T'Challa on Earth-982. He is an official diplomat of Wakanda but moonlights as a hero with the superteam A-Next, using his mutant abilities to transform into a powerful "were-panther." In the Earth-1119 universe, a character of the same name is the son of T'Challa and Storm. After passing his birthright T'Chaka is ambushed by Klaw and assumed murdered. He is however drafted into an interdimensional superhero team known as the Exiles from his homeworld to battle multiversal anomalies under the codename "Panther."
  • T'Channa – Sister of T'Challa in Earth-2301 universe. After suffering defeat to her brother in ritual combat for the throne, T'Channa leaves Wakanda to train with the intention of returning and defeating him later. Makes her way to Latveria where she becomes a disciple of Doctor Doom and after increasing her own magical abilities to a great degree kills him and usurps the throne, taking leadership over the nation of Latveria and the mantle of Doctor Doom.
  • T'Charra – Second child and sole son of King T'Challa in the Earth-11236 universe. Growing resentful of his father and wanting to take the throne of Wakanda as his birthright, plots to kill T'Challa in the United States and unite the various tribes of Wakanda against the nation as a common threat. T'Charra is not able to defeat his father and is returned to the kingdom as a criminal.
  • T'Wari – Son of King T'Challa and Queen Storm in the Earth-8441 universe. Marries Danielle Cage, daughter of President Luke Cage.

  • N'Jobu – Version of the character in the 2018 film Black Panther is a Wakandan prince of the Panther tribe, brother of T'Chaka and father of Erik Killmonger. Is killed by T'Chaka while on covert assignment in America after betraying his nation by stealing vibranium and selling it to Wakandan enemy of the state Klaw.
