TimidGuy (TG)[edit]

76.76[edit]

TG stopped editing in February 2009, following a thread at WP:COIN. He returned to editing in July, but did not log in or acknowledge his account for some weeks. During the interval he edited using four IP addresses:

76.76 did not respond to questions about his accounts or connection to the TM movement: [5][6]

POV editing[edit]

TG has deleted sourced, negative material: [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]

Here, he deleted sourced material and restored an unsourced assertion about the prominence of John Hagelin:[15]

TG has edited articles to bring them into conformity with the movement's internal manual of style:[16]

TG has edited an article about a neighbor and co-practitioner based on his personal knowledge:[17]

TG has added rebuttal or "balancing" material that is as long or longer than the original assertion.[18][19]

TG has argued to retain material on fringe views with only a primary source: [20]

TG has added material that does not comply with WP:MEDRS: [21][22][23]

76.76 has deleted sourced, negative material:[24] ( In this case, it was misplaced but otherwise accurate, and the source was indeed published:[25][26]) [27]

76.76 has deleted material that doesn't meet WP:MEDRS (though TG will later complain about such deletions): [28][29]

Editing behavior[edit]

TG has mentioned using a "battleground standard":[30]

76.76 has engaged in edit warring: [31]

TG has engaged in edit warring over the deletion of negative sourced material:[32][33]

TG has engaged in edit warring over adding contentious material sourced to a blog:[34]

TG has added medical studies that don't comply with WP:MEDRS: [35]

76.76 has made miminal changes to a long, quoted sentence then removed the quotation marks: [36]

Personal interactions[edit]

TG has accused others of lacking good faith: [37]

Technique vs movement[edit]

TG has argued that Wikipedia must follow the trademark holder's definition of Transcendental Meditation: [38](evidence of same user:[39][40]) [41][42][43]

TG has argued that the TM article should only discuss the TM technique and not the TM organization:[44][45][46][47][48][49]

TG has proposed getting an opinion from the MUM legal council, and implied we would have to follow that legal advice.[50]

Rebuttals[edit]

TG notes that a blogger has criticized Wikipedia's article on TM. He fails to note that the same blog has repeatedly published verbatim press releases about TM, and has posted a gushing appreciation for TM movement activities.[51] (compare to [52]) [53] (compare to: [54]) [55] (compare to [56]) [57][58][59][60][61][62][63]

User:TimidGuy/COIN appears to be a very selective reading of the COIN threads, and it leaves out the postings by uninvolved editors which question the propriety of editing by MUM faculty.
