Assistant Conservator of Forests (Hindi: सहायक वन संरक्षक) is an officer for a State Forest Service (SFS) in the Government of India.

The Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) is a Gazetted Officer. The post is also known as Sub-divisional Forest Officer. A subdivision consists of two or more ranges and a division consists of two or more subdivisions. ACF is an administrative officer and belongs to the provincial forest forces, either direct entrants at that rank or promoted from Rangers, Deputy Rangers[1]. Officers recruited by state Public Service Commissions receive this rank directly.

The ACF is responsible for the forests, environment and wildlife-related issues of Forest Ranges under his or her administration[2]. They are trained in forestry and allied subjects in forest academies established and administered by the Government of India or the State Government, as the case may be. The training course of Assistant Conservators of Forests is prescribed by the Government of India which is usually of 18 months and includes forestry, biodiversity, laws on environment and forests, etc. and with field tours.
