Tiny Rose-like Flower in California Viewed through a Loupe

Hi everyone. Here is some background, so that you know that I am not pulling things out of the air.

I have lived in Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, and Denmark. I have pedaled my loaded touring bike, alone, across deserts in the summer, across the U.S., and across Canada. I have carefully and critically read science fiction. (For me, truly "hard" sci fi/"speculative fiction" does not include time travel or FTL.) I have carefully and critically read ancient texts over the years. This includes the NT (read in chronological order of composition, to the extent possible) and the OT from Genesis through Nehemiah. I am a licensed civil engineer (PE in several states), specifically, a structural engineer (SE in California. Structural PE in Massachusetts.) I have engineered a somewhat unusually wide range of structure types. I have spent most of my 23-year career working on new, repaired, or replaced structures in or near the water including locks, dams, bridges, and immersed tube tunnels. I have held critical roles in several award-winning structures, including those showcased in TV programs, such as the $1.2-billion IHNC Lake Borgne Storm Surge Barrier and Floodgates, which has protected New Orleans for about ten years. My civil engineering bachelor's and master's degrees are from MIT. I have a good microscope and have occasional access to decent 10-inch+ telescopes. Interests include geology, astronomy, microscopy, and Thomas Paine.
