World domination is the domination of the entire humanity. This unprecedented state was the target of various movements. The quest for world domination in a pejorative sense in modern times, was placed under different groups and political systems, and is still a popular theme in entertainment media.
Historic

In fact, these structures, but each control exercised over a small percentage of the population or even the rulers of the respective known world. On the "closest" to world domination had been the British Empire, which in 1921 comprised approximately one fourth of the country covered with earth and about one third of the (then) world's population.
The world domination in the Middle Ages was claimed by the papacy during the Investiture Controversy. It was also predicted by the Marxist world revolution, ie the destruction of bourgeois rule in all countries of the earth and the establishment of a global dictatorship of the proletariat. For the political theorist Hannah Arendt, the quest for world domination is one of the hallmarks of totalitarian systems. [3] Whether Adolf Hitler and the Nazis were striving for world domination or world domination, is controversial in the historical research, however, [4].
The accusation was seeking world domination and is a common way to consider the legitimacy of a group or system of thought in doubt. The latter is done, not least in various conspiracy theories that assume the United States or in groups, they would be secretly controlled (ZOG), strove for a New World Order
Other uses
[edit]The entertainment media is more common, the figure of a super-villain, who aspires to rule the world, such as when Dr. Mabuse, in the James Bond films in the Batman universe, or - as a parody - in the animated series Pinky and the Brain.
In the Christian context, Jesus Christ is referred to as the last () world ruler or rulers of the world. Thus, on the one hand meant that he was already present in the spiritual sense of Christ as the ruler of all that exists.
