Terminology[edit]

  • Fakie: When you go or take off facing backwards
  • Frontside: When you go or take off facing forward
  • Alley-Oop: when you air in one direction, but spinning in the other direction, you come off the vert ramp heading right, but spin to your left
  • Zerospin: Where you air and land fakie without spinning
  • Natural: Doing a spin in the direction that feels right or a grab with the most natural feeling hand, etc.
  • Switch: Doing a spin or an air in which you go in the opposite way you normally do
  • Flip: Spin with the axis being like a pole stuck through both sides of the waist

Grabs[edit]

  • Grab: Any trick done in the air that involves grabbing a part of the skates
  • Mute: Grab trick in which you reach across the front of you and grab the outside sole of the opposite skate
  • Safety: Grab trick where you grab one foot on the soul with the hand on the same side
  • Rocket: Where you stretch both feet straight out and grab both toes with one hand [1]
  • Liu Kang: Grab where one leg is out straight in front of you and the other is bent and grabbed [2]
  • Japan: Grab where you reach behind you and grab the opposite leg, and the un-grabbed leg is bent
  • Method: Where you grab your heels and stretch your feet behind you with your knees bent.
  • Stale Fish: Grab trick in which you reach behind your legs and grab the wheels of the opposite skate
  • Genie: Grab trick where you appear to be sitting cross-legged in the air and you're grabbing down with both hands
  • Kung Lao: Liu-Kang where you grab the straight leg on the toe instead of the bent leg
  • Takeshi Air: Rocket where your legs are crossed and your grabbing the opposite foot (left hand grabs right foot).
  • Salerno Air: Method with the shins crossed.
