Alpro Pharmacy (Chinese: 大专药剂;Pin Yin : Dà Zhuān Yào Jì) is a privately-held community retail pharmacy chain store based in Malaysia founded by Ph. Low Swee Siong, Dr. Ph. Hiew Fei Tsong, Ms. Chia Ling Ling in 2002. It has its headquarters in Bandar Sri Sendayan, Negeri Sembilan.

Alpro Pharmacy is one of the largest prescription pharmacy chain in Malaysia. It has more than 150 outlets in Malaysia and expanding. Alpro Pharmacy offers a wide range of healthcare services. These range from online pharmacy service which is known as ePharmacy service, medication review, weight management consultation by the dietitian, medication disposal service, rehab equipment rental service, personalized medicine dispensing pack service (Pilcube), home physio service, blood glucose monitoring system subscription plan (suGo365), minute consult service, and hearing test center.[1]

Naming[edit]

The name Alpro stands for All Professionals, implying it has a team of professional pharmacists to provide medication advice. The name and logo used in Alpro Pharmacy indicate the business's identity.

History[edit]

In 2002, Alpro Pharmacy launched its first store in Port Dickson at Oceanic Mall.

In 2012, Alpro Pharmacy holds the record of Most Number of Prescription Dispensed of the country in Malaysia Book of Records.

In 2013, Alpro Pharmacy expanded with 20 stores opening in Malaysia.

In December 2014, it launched its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program for community outreach named Alpro Foundation to help and support those in need. Under Alpro Foundation, it has Charity Water, Charity Wipes, and the Growing Stars Project.

In 2017, the brand introduced three new services Medicpak, Medilist, and Medicheck to keep the community safe from medication error and improve the effective use of medication.

In 2018, it launched its first store in Kuching, Sarawak. The milestone marks Alpro Pharmacy's first expansion to the east.

In 2019, Alpro Pharmacy first landed in Pearl of the Orient, Penang Island and ventured into East Coast. In the same year, the brand also launched a blood glucose monitoring system subscription plan named suGo365, being the first Glucose Monitoring Subscription plan in Malaysia

In 2020, Alpro Pharmacy officially opened its new two-storey headquarters at Bandar Sri Sendayan, Negeri Sembilan. The new building has 100,000 square feet of space, which can accommodate 1,500 employees and is six times larger than the previous headquarters in Port Dickson. Since then, Alpro Pharmacy underwent a digital transformation and launched an eCommerce website named Alpro One Click to reach customers nationwide and offer easier access to customers. Alpro Pharmacy got its start in the medication business, but the company soon branched out into other modern medical services like Silvercare program, providing one-stop elderly care service.

As of 30 November 2021, Alpro Pharmacy has evolved from a single pharmacy to the largest community pharmacy chain in Malaysia with more than 150 outlets. A significant majority of them are located in the Central Region and Southern Region of Malaysia with a growing presence in East Coast and Sarawak

Awards[edit]

In 2016, Alpro Pharmacy was awarded Product and Service Excellence and CSR Excellence in Business Excellence Awards, presented by Sin Chew Daily, a Chinese-language newspaper in Malaysia. [2]
