Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Yachts.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Yachts.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:03, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

  • I have now provided a new rationale which I hope will be adequate. Yozzer66 (talk) 22:15, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Streets (punk album). Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Phoenix Film.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Phoenix Film.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 20:37, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Infoboxes

[edit]

Please see Template:Infobox Musical artist, specifically "Current_members: This field is only relevant for groups. Current members of the group, listed in order of joining with no other notation than names." and "Past_members: This field is only relevant for groups. Past members of the group, listed in order of joining with no other notation than names. If a group is inactive, all members should be listed here, and none in the "Current_members" field."

There is definitely a place for extended discussion, but the infobox is not it. --John (talk) 17:56, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Teams playing at Step 7 (i.e. the Cheshire Association Football League) or below are not considered notable unless they have played at a higher level or in the FA Cup/Vase in the past. The only team in the Cheshire League that has an article is Middlewich Town F.C., which has played in the Vase and Cup in one of its former incarnations. The others are all just reserve teams of clubs playing higher up the pyramid. Regards, пﮟოьεԻ 57 21:14, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Ah, my mistake. I've restored the article. Regards, пﮟოьεԻ 57 22:18, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Merseyside

[edit]

Hi there, I hope this isn't considered spam, but I noticed on the UK Geography project page that you have an interest in Merseyside related pages, so I wanted to ask if you would be interesting in supporting a Merseyside Wikiproject? I'm trying to gauge if there is suitable support before making a formal proposal. Cheers. Zenichiro (talk) 15:31, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Yes, I'd be very interested. I noticed that a Greater Manchester Wikiproject made a significant contribution to those pages. Good idea. Look overdue really. Yozzer66 (talk) 10:31, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Green star.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. Wow, cracking good intro you have created to this article. Beautifully researched and presented - I just hope some nerd (IP address or otherwise) does not destroy it. Well done, old boy. Regards,

Assuming the eleven members you listed on the talk page is definitive, then Bruce Watson needs adding to the main article's 'membership' section. Otherwise, a new section broadly based on that for Wishbone Ash - here - [1] may be easier for the casual reader to follow. Plus, in the grander order of things, each band member (currently without) would probably benefit with an article of his own. Only a suggestion, of course, I am really only here for the beer. Regards, (you know who)

Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:18, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Always good to hear from you Derek. Two points: First, the Wishbone Ash article style of organisation IS very good. However, I think it works well because that band is going concern. The infobox can refer us to a seperate article for past members because it is able to list current members. The Skids aren't really a going concern. Second, I think you are probably right about each of the eleven band members needing their own page. Unfortunately, this would require a Skids fanatic with 'train-spotter' like knowledge. I'm definately NOT that person! However, I do intend to sort out a band template when I get a chance. Yozzer66 (talk) 10:15, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

I notice you're interested in WikiProject Meresyside. The project has now been set up, so if you are still interested please add your name to this list! Nev1 (talk) 20:57, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to the project, it's still very much in the fledgling stage so any input on the talk page such as what the project should be doing, high priority articles and stuff. At the moment, we're tagging and assessing articles within the project's scope so we know what articles need work. Nev1 (talk) 23:53, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
