In November 2010, producers launched a viral campaign to get Cookie Monster on late night comedy sketch program Saturday Night Live, as a guest host. A four-minute "audition" clip was posted on the Tumblr account,[1] The clip was also posted on their YouTube channel,[2][3] their Facebook page,[4] created a new campaign page,[5] linked to from Twitter,[4]

Sesame Workshop started a Sesame Street account early in the existence of Google+, with Count von Count saying "Good morning" to users.[6] (The service launched as a limited trial on June 28, 2011.) At around the point Google+ reaching 20 million users, Google decided to quash corporate accounts, not only Sesame Street's, suggesting business profiles would come at a later point.[7][8]
